{"id":40531,"date":"2023-02-01T12:04:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T17:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carfms.org\/?p=40531"},"modified":"2023-02-01T12:18:15","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T17:18:15","slug":"2023-student-essay-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carfms.org\/fr\/2023-student-essay-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"CARFMS 2023 STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST \/  ACERMF CONCOURS 2023 D\u2019ESSAIS POUR LES \u00c9TUDIANTS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>le fran\u00e7ais suit<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Canadian Association for Refugee and Forced Migration Studies (CARFMS) seeks to foster an independent community of scholars dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of Canadian refugee and forced migration research.&nbsp; The Association aims to engage students as active members of the Canadian refugee research community, and invites undergraduate, graduate and law students to participate in the 2023 CARFMS Student Essay Contest.<\/p>\n<p>The CARFMS Student Essay Contest recognizes the most outstanding research produced by students in the field of refugee and forced migration studies.&nbsp; The authors of the shortlisted papers will be invited to present their work at the <a href=\"https:\/\/pheedloop.com\/carfms23\/site\/home\/\"><strong>15th Annual CARFMS Conference<\/strong><\/a>, which will take place May 29-31, 2023, at York University in Toronto, Ontario as part of the Congress of the Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Papers submitted to the Student Essay Contest may address any issue relevant to refugee and forced migration studies, in Canada or elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>The selection committee will shortlist three authors in each category: 1) undergraduate students; 2) graduate and law students. Subject to peer review, high quality short-listed papers will be considered for publication as working papers on the CARFMS website<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participants in the contest must be members of CARFMS, or join the association in advance of the 2023 Conference.<\/li>\n<li>Participants must be Canadian students or international students registered at a Canadian university. Papers from any disciplinary background are welcome.<\/li>\n<li>The student must be the sole author of the submitted paper.<\/li>\n<li>The authors of shortlisted papers are encouraged to present their work in person at the 2023 CARFMS Conference, but students may participate in the competition even if they cannot attend the conference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application process and editorial guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Papers must be submitted on-line at <a href=\"http:\/\/carfms.org\/student-essay-contest\/\"><strong>http:\/\/carfms.org\/student-essay-contest\/ <\/strong><\/a>by <strong>5:00 PM EST, March 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2023.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Papers may be submitted in either English or French.<\/li>\n<li>Papers must not exceed 7,500 words. Please use 12-point font and standard margins.<\/li>\n<li>Submissions must include an abstract of no more than 150 words, setting out the main arguments or findings of the paper.<\/li>\n<li>Papers should follow appropriate referencing conventions.<\/li>\n<li>The papers will be evaluated through an anonymous review process. Les auteurs des essais pr\u00e9s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s seront invit\u00e9.e.s \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter leurs travaux durant la <a href=\"https:\/\/pheedloop.com\/carfms23\/site\/home\/\"><strong>15<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> Conf\u00e9rence Annuelle de l\u2019ACERMF,<\/strong><\/a> qui se tiendra du 29 au 31 mai 2023 \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 York \u00e0 Toronto, Ontario dans le cadre du Congr\u00e8s des sciences humaines.<\/p>\n<p>Les travaux soumis au Concours peuvent aborder toute question pertinente et en lien avec les \u00e9tudes sur les r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s et la migration forc\u00e9e, au Canada ou ailleurs.<\/p>\n<p>Trois essais dans chaque cat\u00e9gorie \u2013 \u00e9tudiant.e.s du premier cycle&nbsp;; et \u00e9tudiant.e.s des Facult\u00e9s de droit et aux \u00e9tudes sup\u00e9rieures \u2013 seront pr\u00e9s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s une revue de paires favorables, des essais de haute qualit\u00e9 seront consid\u00e9r\u00e9s pour publication comme documents de travail de recherche au site web de l\u2019ACERMF<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9ligibilit\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Les participant.e.s au concours doivent \u00eatre membres de l\u2019ACERMF, ou s\u2019inscrire \u00e0 l\u2019Association avant la Conf\u00e9rence annuelle 2023.<\/li>\n<li>Les participant.e.s doivent \u00eatre des \u00e9tudiant.e.s canadiens ou des \u00e9tudiant.e.s \u00e9tranger.e.s inscrit.e.s \u00e0 une universit\u00e9 canadienne.
